The Lumiere Brothers Center for Photography presents the first Russian exhibition of works by Ezra Stoller, an outstanding American architectural photographer of the 20th-century.

The Guggenheim Museum, the former Whitney Museum of American Art building, Manhattan skyscrapers, the TWA Terminal at Kennedy International Airport, the famous «Fallingwater» house, the iconic building of the 20th-century – the Ronchamp Chapel and many other architectural landmarks of themodernist era in focus of one of the most influential architectural photographers will be presented atthe site of the Center for Photography at the Red October.

For many years, Stoller worked with the pioneers of modern American architecture and the mostfamous representatives of Modernism, including Frank Lloyd Wright, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Louis Kahn, Le Corbusier, Paul Rudolph and Marcel Breuer.

Works for the exhibition in Moscow were specially selected from Ezra Stoller's archive. Theexposition includes black and white photographs of public buildings, offices and private houses fromthe very beginning of his career in the late 1930s to the 1970s.

The project is realized in cooperation with the Shchusev State Museum of Architecture. Invited architect of the exhibition: Julia Napolova, P.S. Culture.

Ruslan Lobanov: Nudes in the City

Photographic exhibition: "Nudes in the City", March 3rd, 2016 to March 25th, 2016

Ruslan Lobanov’s cinematographic photograpy will be featured in the upcoming exhibition „Nudes in the City“ at Gallery INA DEDERER & FRIENDS.

Ruslan Lobanov is one of today’s most popular artists in the post Soviet Union space. His black and white, and color, photography have left a strong impact on photography collectors and enthusiasts in both Europe and North America.

Lobanov’s impressive achievements include mention and nomination for California’s Black &
White Spider Awards in 2012 and 2013, and a 2015’s International Color Awards honorable
mention. His works have been exhibited in his home country Ukraine, as well as in Belgium and Germany. His exhibit in Zurich at Gallery INA DEDERER & FRIENDS marks his first show in Switzerland.

Ruslan’s uniqueness comes from the mystery and elaborate elements of female nakedness
which blend harmoniously with collectible accessories, handmade costumes and attentively
selected locations. Ruslan was mostly inspired by his older sister, a designer, and what he calls "the magnificence of beauty" which he was fortunate to have observed as a child, in art books, costumes and creative atmospheres.

Whilst visiting different countries and observing multiple cultures, Ruslan photographed a large mosaic of female models from Havana to Kiev, and from Galle to Moscow. The inimitable aura of each city is reflected in each stunning female’s unique look. «Lobanov’s album is just strikingly brilliant. A new book supporting the exhibit, Nudes in the City, features many never-before-seen photos from the main project that was created over the last ten years. The book’s 104 black and white works depict Ruslan’s essence of feminine beauty—confidence and strength with space for the viewer’s interpretation.

Lobanov mostly works with different analogue cameras and the medium format. His favorite is Rolleiflex, but he uses different systems, such as Pentax 67, depending on the project and location. Up to 2015, most of Lobanov’s photos were shot using black and white film. His new photo stories are partially color, partially black and white. All works are limited edition prints, mostly of 15 copies. Photo sizes include 70 cm x 70 cm and 100 cm x 100 cm. The Exhibition Opening will be held on March 3rd, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 8.30 pm at Gallery INA DEDERER & FRIENDS. The artist will be present to introduce his work and to sign a limited number of books which will be available for purchase.

Disappearing Africa: Anton Lyalin

The Lumiere Brothers Center for Photography presents the third solo exhibition of a Russian photographer Anton Lyalin Disappearing Africa, which encompasses 13 works devoted to the continent.

Anton Lyalin was born and grew up in Sochi. Since 1994 he has been living and working in Moscow. In 2001 he made his first trip to Africa, where he started photographing wild animals. The series, on which he started to work 14 years ago, encompasses more than 200 pieces by now. Since the first photographs were taken, Lyalin has been to eight countries, has visited the majority of national parks, including Serengeti in Tanzania and Kenya, Ruaha in Tanzania, Chobe in Botswana, lakes Nakuru and Amboseli in Kenya.

In his works Lyalin strives to bring viewers in contact with the essence of wildlife, its beauty and wisdom. He deliberately turns away from animalistic genre to artistic photography, focusing on composition, choice of vantage point, and landscape background.

The photographer captures the individuality of wild animals, their peculiarities and unexpected features. In these photographs they look as if they posed. Lyalin achieves this by making an emotional connection with animals, standing close to them but remaining emotionally detached. He manages to take photographs at close range, not disturbing his subjects. Due to this, animals seem as if they are standing in front of

Lyalin reveals the purity of African nature, its tranquility and disappearing beauty in portrayals of both animals and landscapes. A common feature of his works – dense clouds with accentuated texture – is not just a part of the background or a detail used to balance the composition, but is instrumental for grasping the narrative of the picture.
