Travel Photography Awards — AAP Magazine #62

Our 62nd printed issue of AAP Magazine will celebrate TRAVEL, featuring a selection of the most compelling photographic projects submitted by photographers from around the world.

“My life is shaped by the urgent need to wander and observe, and my camera is my passport.”
— Steve McCurry

Travel is not only about distant destinations. It can be about discovering a place for the first time, returning to somewhere familiar, meeting people along the way, or simply learning to see the world around us differently.

We are looking for your vision of travel, from near or far. Show us the landscapes, people, cultures, encounters, and moments that have shaped your journey. Take us to iconic destinations, places known only to you, or somewhere just around the corner. Whether you photograph with a large-format camera, a compact camera, or a mobile phone, we want to see how you experience and interpret the world through photography.

There is a world out there to explore. Take us somewhere we have never been, or show us a familiar place in a completely different way.

All genres and photographic approaches are welcome, including color and black & white, traditional and experimental photography, film and digital, as well as a wide range of post-production techniques.

AAP Magazine is about photographic projects, not individual images. Please submit a cohesive body of work or portfolio. Only a unified and coherent group of photographs will be considered for publication in the magazine. Images previously published in AAP Magazine cannot be submitted again.

London: Shot in Soho at Photographer's Gallery

Image
Although the area of Soho is relatively small (one square mile) and bordered by some of London’s richest and most commercialised streets, it has remained a complex place of unorthodoxy, diversity, tolerance and defiance. Shot in Soho is an original exhibition celebrating Soho’s diverse culture, community and history of creative innovation as well as highlighting its position as a site of resistance. John Goldblatt Untitled, from the series ‘The Undressing Room’, 1968 © John Goldblatt Courtesy of the artist’s estate Through a range of photographs, ephemera and varied presentations, the project reflects the breadth of life in a part of the capital that has always courted controversy and celebrated difference. It comes at a time when the area is facing radical transition and transformation with the imminent completion of Cross Rail (a major transport hub being built on Soho’s borders) set to make a landmark impact on the area.    This is a rare opportunity to see outst...
