Italy: Sneg by Klavdij Sluban

  On 23 March 2023, Galleria del Cembalo is glad to open in its rooms Sneg, an exhibition with photographs by Klavdij Sluban, French artist of Slovenian origin who is been dedicated to photography since his youth studying in Paris. He is a tireless traveller who often explores the routes traced by the railway lines that connect Europe and the East – such as the Transsiberian Railway – searching for his roots and the meaning of History. The show will be open until 13 May 2023. The photographs on display are a selection taken from two series by the author: Autres rivages. La mer Baltique and Japan ; the images are rigorously in black and white, more precisely in film, black, gray and white, a manual exposure meter at the bottom of a pocket, rarely used. What the two photographic projects have in common is a constant and consistent presence: the snow (sneg in Slovenian, the author’s mother tongue), silent subject of his shots. EXHIBITION July 2 to september 23 OPENING Today, July 5, 7:30pm:: Visit of the exhibition in the presence of the artists at the Voies Off Gallery followed by a cocktail in the Cour de l'Archevêché at 9 pm SCREENING July 5 at 10pm, Cour de l'Archevêché MEETING WITH THE ARTISTS July 6, 3pm, Voies Off Gallery “The project “If Slovenia were…” represents a photographic vision of the country through the eyes of 19 contemporary Slovenian photographers. All of the series were developed specifically for this project between 2015 and 2018. The participating photographers were selected in an open call. Through distinct individual expressions, the authors articulate their own vision and interpretation of the country they live in. “If Slovenia were…” shows the different layers of Slovenia nowadays through the feeling these young photographers (the average age is 34) carry within themselves. The end of Yugoslavia and its war (1991-2001) are far behind them. New refugees cross their country. ...
