Athens: Jose Ney Mila Espinosa “Narratives for the Illusion of an Imagined Face”

Exhibition duration: From November 18 to November 23, 2022

José Ney Mila Espinosa, is a Cuban artist with numerous awards and distinctions throughout his career. His works are hosted in museums in Europe and also in North and Latin America.

In this exhibition, being held at Blank Wall Gallery, “Narratives for the Illusion of an Imagined Face”, he presents a summary of all the graphic experiences he has captured by an intuitive impulse, from public situations to those of maximum privacy.

These images are the ones with which he has most identified in a very personal and intimate way. He believes that “The more information we get, the faster we understand and make a concrete idea, a conclusion that, in turn, will make us feel safe because we have understood”. In this case, the photographs do not belong to a place or to certain people. In this case they belong to any place on Earth and those people are ourselves.

The exhibition consists of B&W Photographs, which narrate the stories of the people depicted. The fact that the faces are not (clearly) visible gives the viewer the opportunity to identify with the person in question and even to create their own stories about the background of the photograph.

The exhibition will be hosted at Blank Wall Gallery

from the 18th until the 23rd of November and everyone who is interested to find out more about the art of José Ney Mila Espinosa is welcome.
